Kirsten’s Foot Care will be offering in-home nursing foot care in the area of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Any available clinics within HRM will be listed on our website. Kirsten's Foot Care offers basic, advanced and diabetic nursing foot care in the comfort of your own home. Care is provided by a Licensed Practical Nurse. Foot care is not always about the basic ‘pedicure’ from your local salon. Nursing foot care is an integral part of all nursing care. It includes skin and nail care, as well as health promotion, client teaching, and promoting overall safety and comfort in someones life. Providing preventative and treatment measures of common foot problems such as corns, calluses, bunions, involuted & ingrown nails, fungal nails, dry/cracked skin, hammertoes and more. Includes diabetic foot care assessments, and health teaching. There are three important questions to ask when choosing YOUR foot care nurse: 1) How do they clean their tools? --- You want the tools to be sterilized using an autoclave and not soaked. Soaking tools is not sterile, and opens risk for possible infection and contamination. 2) Are they certified and registered? -- Have they taken a specialized nursing foot care course? Are they still actively registered with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses? 3) Do they participate in yearly on-going education for their nursing practice? All foot care tools used undergo a strict sterilization process with use of an ultrasonic cleaner and autoclave, thereby reducing the risk of infection. They are individually wrapped and opened in front of the client. Best practice standards are met in all areas of practice! Do you have insurance? Foot care may be covered up to 80% by most insurance companies - please check prior to your appointment as a prescription from your doctor may be required before time of visit for coverage.
