I purchased a Mercedes sprinter from here about a month ago, and had asked about its motor condition and any work that apparent work needed on it. They said that it was good to go. I drove back to Edmonton, hit limp mode on the highway and then purchased a diagnostic tool. I ran diagnostics and surely enough seven codes popped out. Many of the sensors have problems, and the one code immediately led me to my local Mercedes mechanic because it was for a stretched timing chain (a $3400 fix alone). They gave me a list of $14000 in repairs to be done to it. Keep in mind, I'm not a mechanic and have no background working on cars, and I simply plugged the diagnostic tool in and was able to figure that out. Either they plugged a diagnostic tool in and completely lied to my face, or they are a used car dealership who doesn't own the most basic tool of any value to someone who buys and sells used cars. Needless to say, either reason is reason enough to stay clear of this dealer.
