Description

Nami, located in the downtown core, is considered one of Toronto's finest authentic Japanese restaurants and has been for well over 20 years.
Nami is traditional Japanese cuisine served in a simple, modern setting. Walking through the front door is like taking a trip to Kyoto. Kimono-clad servers wait on patrons in the main dining area, private booths as well as the private Tatami room with rice paper screened doors. The Robata Bar serves made to order grilled meat, vegetables and fresh seafood. Alternatively, you can sit at the Sushi bBar for a traditional yet all unique dining experience.

Nami is my favorite Sushi restaurant in Toronto. A higher priced sushi restaurant but you really pay for what you get; from the food to the ambiance, everything is done with great care. The minute you walk in and are greeted, you feel relaxed by the warm atmosphere and always attentive staff, I love the authentic Japanese kimonos worn by the waitresses, who are pleasant and helpful.Your eyes are immediately drawn to the back of the room, where there is a raised area with a low lying table surrounded by pillows. This is reserved for large parties. We always call a few nights prior to reserve a booth which is also very nice and gives you a nice amount of privacy, I I always order their Nasudengaku (deep fried eggplant and Miso sauce) as an appetizer as they do it so well. The sashimi is never less than perfectly fresh and they also have a Robata (grill bar). As they are quite expensive-I save Nami for special occasions/ celebrations but if you can afford it more often, its well worth it.
