Always buy your wine at the SAQ store, never at a grocery store or a dépanneur (corner store): the wine they sell has traditionally been plonk, and while they now have some higher-quality choices, you still end up paying more for it and I'd still classify their definition of higher quality as better than awful, not actually good. You buy it in desperation because the SAQ is closed and you're going to someone's place for a dinner party. And even then, you apologize for bringing "dep wine" :)
