I tried Le Commensal for the first time last Friday with a friend of mine who's a vegetarian. She has been to this restaurant many times and really enjoys the experience, but I unfortunately can't really say the same. I enjoy vegetarian food, and the meals offered at this restaurant aren't bad (not amazing, but not great either), but I don't really like the idea of paying for the food by its weight. I don't generally eat much, and my plate was less than 3/4 full, yet my meal was quite costly, especially considering the taste and quality of the food. I also wasn't too fond of the appearance of the food -- it was laid out in a buffet style arrangement and it looked like people had picked at it or played with it before we got there. On the bright side, we got a table near a large window overlooking Ste-Catherine's street and it was nice seeing people pass by (from above) and the liveliness of the city while we were eating. Sadly, a good view is not enough to get me to go back to this restaurant.
