I also attended a performance of the Madonna Painter at the Centaur Theatre recently, and could not disagree more strongly with the previous poster. Some people attend theatre to be entertained. Those people should stay away from this play. It is clear that this exquisitely rendered production is meant to provoke, to disturb, to challenge and to incite conversation, as it certainly did the night we attended. Our group was sharply divided, but over a glass of wine afterwards we all agreed that it had gotten under our collective skin.
