I paid Peter Diernegger to do a WETT cert inspection on the home I was purchasing. Peter reported the apron being 7" too short as the only thing wrong but missed reporting that the stove was dangerous - warped sides from excessive heat and all the fire bricks were missing from inside! His failure wound up costing me $5,000 to have a new wood stove installed once I discovered his oversight after I moved in! Had I known, I could've lowered my purchase price offer on the house based on an uncertifiable wood stove. It also caused me major problems trying to get house insurance because the existing wood stove was not able to be WETT certified. Don't use this guy! He won’t return calls nor make good on his errors. If you decide to risk it, don't pay cash upfront - get a written report BEFORE you pay him.
