Description

We invite you to travel back in time, and above all, have fun. Here are a few tips for your visit: Wear comfortable walking shoes and appropriate outdoor clothes. You'll be in the city but remember you?ll be visiting an authentic 19th century country village. Arrive with an adventurous spirit. Let your curiosity be your guide. Go inside the buildings, examine the details of what you see, and ask the interpreter how the building was used, who used it, and why things were the way they were. Give yourself time. Take the opportunity to spend time with the historic interpreters and enjoy the demonstrations and activities. Three to four hours is sufficient for most people. Be prepared to ask questions. Because we offer an authentic historic Village experience, you won't find many information signs. But you will find many knowledgeable interpreters and trades people in period dress, who are there to explain things. Approach them. Ask them lots of questions. Look for special demonstrations and activities. Every day at Black Creek Pioneer Village is different. Each day has its own schedule of demonstrations, activities and performances. Ask for details at the admission desk when you arrive.

I've been here several times both with school trips and have taken some of my nephews here. A wonderful way to teach children how the people lived in pioneer times. The village is authentic and the employees there wear the appropriate clothing for the time period (around mid 1800's). My favourite place is the mill where you see how they ground the wheat down to flour. You also get to sample some of the candies in the candy shop where they are hand made. They also give lessons for children in various crafts such as candle making. They also cater to corporate and school groups, my nephew's school had a BBQ and there was lots of food and games.
