The Garage Door Depot® was founded in 2007 as the consumer brand of Canadian Access & Door Systems Inc. Canadian Access & Door Systems at the time was solely a commercial overhead door company servicing the Greater Vancouver market however the company knew that to grow it needed to embrace the consumer side of the business as well. This is where the The Garage Door Depot® brand finds its origins. In 2009 the company decided to expand using a franchise model and its first franchise was sold in the Fraser Valley area of BC in the fall of 2010.

The franchise model worked very well in terms of allowing The The Garage Door Depot® to continue expanding and today the company has independent operating franchisees in almost all major cities and regions within Canada.
