Description

I believe that a couples therapist is both a collaborator and a choreographer: a collaborator in the work that couples do to restructure their life dance; and a choreographer who follows and leads the couple’s interaction throughout the therapy process. As a therapist, I help clients to expand their inner experience and create not only a new representation of self, but also new patterns of interactions in order to connect to their partner or other important people in their lives.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). As an EFT Therapist, I am also a member of the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally-Focused Therapy (ICEEFT). To be eligible for registration with CRPO in the Qualifying category, applicants must have completed at least 125 direct client contact hours and 30 hours of clinical supervision. As an RP (Qualifying), I am required to practise with clinical supervision and must be actively engaged in completing registration requirements to become registered as an RP. I first discovered my passion after completing the Curriculum for Living at Landmark Education, where I began volunteering as a life coach. Since then, I have furthered both my passion and expertise through providing therapy to individuals, couples, families, and groups; attending to issues such as personality disorders, relationship issues, depression and anxiety, and other trauma related issues. My work for professional counselling service businesses, as well as non-profit social service organizations, has provided me valuable experience in using a variety of assessment techniques and therapy methods, while recognizing the importance of applying appropriate interventions aligned to cultural differences. In addition to English, I am fluent in Farsi and Italian and offer experience working within a variety of multicultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. My Masters degree is in Counselling Psychology.
